At Kelmore, innovation starts with understanding the science behind our products. Our beige cement technology is a great example of how research, development and a commitment to performance have helped us create something unique.
Three years of research and development
Having previously been among the first to introduce an ultra-rapid-setting smoothing and levelling compound formulated with beige cement, we gained valuable insight into the chemistry behind these advanced compounds.
During the three years prior to entering the market, our laboratory team continued to research and develop this technology, with the ambition of incorporating beige cement formulations across Kelmore’s levelling and smoothing range.
At the time, the potency of this cement chemistry meant it was primarily used in ultra-rapid-setting products. However, our team saw the potential to go further.
Through continued research and development, we set out to control and adapt this chemistry to achieve extended working times while retaining the rapid setting and floor-covering installation times that are so important to flooring professionals. We are delighted to say we achieved this through the majority of our range.
What are the advantages of beige cement?
Exceptional flow – With flow rates of 140mm-150mm across the full range, our compounds offer excellent workability.
Extended wet-edge time – An extended wet-edge time of up to 30 minutes enables numerous pours over large areas to blend seamlessly.
Outstanding surface finishes – The products set with smooth, consistent surface finishes, ensuring a high-quality base for the application of subsequent floor coverings.
Excellent stability during drying and curing – Our beige cement formulations offer excellent stability as they dry and cure, helping to minimise stress and tension on the substrate.
Accelerated drying and conversion times – From application through to becoming walkable.
Reduced sensitivity to cold conditions – Our beige compounds are less affected by cold and other adverse conditions that can slow the curing process.
Non-classified formulations – Our beige compounds are “non-classified” and therefore not hazardous to health, subject to the information provided in the relevant Safety Data Sheets.
Innovation across the majority of our range
Developing beige cement formulations across the majority of our range of levelling and smoothing compounds was about more than creating a single high-performance product. It was about applying our understanding of cement chemistry to deliver a consistent set of benefits across our levelling and smoothing compounds.
By combining extended working times with rapid setting performance, excellent flow and outstanding surface finishes, Kelmore’s beige cement technology reflects our commitment to developing practical solutions for flooring professionals.
For us, innovation means continually challenging what is possible, investing in research and development, and turning technical knowledge into real-world benefits for our customers.
